In the remote mountains of rural Alberta, gravedigger Annie aspires to live a life worthy of remembering, like the heroes in all her favourite adventure stories. Believing the worth of a life is measured in the sum of the things they have achieved, she writes eulogies for the people she buries, while doubting she’ll ever do anything remarkable enough to have one of her own. That is, until four oddly-dressed strangers are tossed into her world, claiming to be alternate-reality versions of her and warning of a threat to her life from a fifth.

To survive, Annie will have to team up with her counterparts and pursue their murderous doppelganger through the multiverse before it’s too late. But there are grave consequences for crossing through the doors between worlds, and an ancient guild that exists to enforce them. With danger compounding at every turn, she may come to regret leaving her quiet, uneventful life behind after all...
